Cerro Chaltén, also known as Cerro Fitz Roy, is a mountain in the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, in Patagonia. The name Chaltén comes from a Tehuelche word meaning smoking mountain, due to a cloud that usually forms in the top. Robert FitzRoy explored the area in 1834.
